Our church family

Nearly 200 families call St. Barnabas their spiritual home. We care about one another, and our pastoral care ministries are a key component of belonging here. St. Barnabas is known in our communities as a "first responder", ready to lead in times of emergency or need.

Our children

Children at St. Barnabas attend Sunday School during the program year, and have the opportunity to participate in the Youth Choir and the Bell and Chime Choirs. They participate in the annual St. Nicholas Pageant, and enjoy Vacation Bible School every summer.

First Snow

Our building

St. Barnabas is situated on approximately two acres in Montgomery, Ohio, a northeastern suburb of Cincinnati, with easy access to I-71 and I-275. Built in 1991, the building benefited from the "sweat equity" of members of the congregation, making this facility truly a labor of love.

Our music

Music is part of the DNA of St. Barnabas. Our excellent music director/organist has an international reputation as a classical pianist, and has developed our choir into an integral part of our worship. We also offer a children's choir, and bell and chime choirs. We make a "joyful noise" every Sunday!

blessing of the animals

Our worship

In the Fall, St. Barnabas offers a "blessing of the animals" at a regular Sunday service. Parishioners can bring their pets, from dogs to cats to fish, and youngsters can bring a stuffed animal to be blessed. It's always a special experience that brings our congregation closer together. Read more about our worship practices below.

St. Barnabas in 2013

Our History

The idea for an Episcopal church in Montgomery began in 1980. With the support of Bishop William G. Black and rectors of surrounding churches, what is now St. Barnabas began as a mission affiliated with Holy Trinity Church, Kenwood. For the first 10 years or so, the fledgling congregation held services at the local Sycamore High School.

While visiting Manhattan with parishioner John Byrne, Flat Joe got to see the United Nations building, and also bumped into former parishioner, Kelley Byrne. Have you taken Flat Joe anywhere lately? Email your photo to office@st-barnabas.org.
