CHURCH SCHOOL SPEAKER
Sunday, August 23
During the 10:00 service, education specialist Andrea Powers will speak to Grades 3 – 6 on the topic of bullying. She will also speak to the Jr High group after the service at 11:00. Both talks will take place in the undercroft. Ms. Powers is a licensed independent social worker, and has worked at the Mayerson Advocacy Center, a part of Children’s Hospital, for 20 years.
Parents, please help your children start the school year with this important information on how to deal with bullies, how to help a friend being bullied, dealing with cyber bullying, and related issues. Please contact Martha Seagram with any questions.
CHILDREN’S ACTIVITY BAGS
We have activity bags available to parents for their child use during the service. Please feel free to select any bag and return them at the conclusion of the service. These bags are located in the Narthex (church enterance). We hope your child will enjoy them.
FSNH SUMMER CAMP
A Fun Time for Volunteers and Children
Volunteers spend time with the children of Findlay Street Neighborhood House (FSNH) Summer Camp making crafts, going on field trips, playing games, learning moments, etc. Thanks to all who have helped and continue to make this a wonder summer for these children. It’s not too late to be involved, just contact Margaret Nelsen or Betsy May.
OPALS LEARN TO STAY SHARP
Last Wednesday, our OPALS (Older People with Active Life Styles) heard how to keep their brain sharp and their nerves healthy by learning which activities and food help the most! The presentation was led by a very well-informed and animated educator and former R.N., Pamela Baird, from Bethesda North’s Seniority Health Program. Check the calendar for future OPALS events!
