Regional Tornado Relief
|
On March 2, 91 tornadoes touched down in our region. Storm damage extends across southern Ohio, including Highland, Adams, Pike, Lawrence, and Athens Counties. Damage assessments are underway today. First responders are conducting search and rescue and starting debris removal. The Diocese of Southern Ohio Disaster Response is coordinating response and initiating plans for recovery. Monetary donations are needed to help families repair and rebuild - if you are able to assist, please write a check to St Barnabas with DSO Disaster Response in the memo line.

Bread Ministry
|
If you are available on weekday mornings, consider collecting the bread from the Montgomery Kroger and delivering it to the Seven Hills Neighborhood Center in downtown Cincinnati. You will be placed on a rotating based schedule.

CAIN Ministry
|
You can help this ministry by either helping to stock up the food pantry and/or come and serve community meals on the 4th Friday of every month. Volunteers to help cook food for the community meals are always welcome.

Findlay Street NH
|
Findlay Street Neighborhood House is a community center serving families in Cincinnati's West End. Consider volunteering to help during the summer day camp St Barnabas supports with crafts, activities, and outings. Also consider providing meals & gifts to those families at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Habitat for Humanity
|
As a member of this coalition, St Barnabas shares the building expenses and work responsibilities with 7 other churches on the eastside of Cincinnati. Our partner families, who buy these homes, are also required to put in 500 sweat equity hours to help build their home. For more information about this ministry, please visit
Cincinnati Habitat for Humanity
For St Barnabas, an assigned work day (saturdays) is scheduled approximately every 6 weeks. Volunteers with construction skills, or those with limited skills, are welcome. Must be 14 yrs or older (minors must be accompanied by an adult). If you can not provide labor hours, consider helping to provide lunches for approximately 30 to 40 workers.
A typical work day starts at 8:30 am and finishes at 4:00 pm. Carpooling from St Barnabas is offered.

If you, a friend, or a loved one is in need of spiritual healing, consider attending the Healing service held on the 1st Monday of each month at 7:00 pm

Linden Grove
|
Linden Grove School offers specialized learning for about 45 students in grades from Kindergarten to 8th grade. The student body is comprised of children with special needs, particularly those on the autism spectrum. Volunteers are welcome to help in the classroom, or participate in coordinating special fundraisers for the school. To learn more, click here

Panera Bread
|
If you have a Saturday night free, consider collecting the Harper's Point Panera bread at 9:00 pm on a rotating basis. The bread is available for parishioners to take home on Sunday mornings during coffee hour in exchange for a goodwill donation which benefits the Habitat for Humanity ministry at St Barnabas. Any bread left over will be taken to the Seven Hills Neighborhood Center on Monday mornings.

This ministry helps with the laying on of hands during the Eucharist, and other health related support. However, if you are in the medical field, please consider offering your skills during the monthly blood pressure screenings as well.

This group offers prayers for those in need. Prayers for family, friends or prayers needs for yourself, any day of the week.

Prayer Shawl Min.
|
If you know how to knit or would like to learn, consider joining this group who dedicate some of their time to knit a shawl for a person in physical, spiritual, or emotional needs. Click here for the Prayer Shawl Pattern. The knitting is spiritual and contemplative work. It is an expression of concern for one in need of support. The shawls are made with prayerful intention for another. During the church service, the shawls are blessed and given to one in need of spiritual healing.

"Shepherding of Souls" An annual seminar/workshop is offered in the Fall to help parishioners of all ages prepare, plan and manage in advance the many legal, financial and crisis/funeral/end of life issues that each of us will face at some point in our families. Come Fall, look to the Sundries to find out the dates and times of this seminar.
