Hours: 15-18 hours per week

Salary: $20/hour

Schedule: Flexible, but needs to be available on Tuesdays and Sundays, occasionally some evenings.

Position

St. Barnabas is looking for a Digital Storyteller with a vision for sharing God’s love across multiple platforms —with a main emphasis on social media. The Digital Storyteller will need to understand a range of digital communications tools, especially social media, and understand overall communications strategy and the role of digital communication. We are seeking a creative who likes to collaborate in a team environment and can create content, write clear and compelling stories, and can help us tell the story of what God is doing through St. Barnabas Church and in the broader community.

Qualifications and Skills

The Successful candidate will have: 

  • Experience in digital storytelling, content creation, and video production. 

  • Degree in communications or a related field.

  • Excellent overall communication skills: verbal, visual, written, and relational.

  • High-quality writing and editing ability.

  • Experience with digital communication strategies across multiple platforms.

  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Squarespace.

  • Sound basic photography and videography skills.

  • Be committed to detail and accuracy, even on time-sensitive projects.

  • Understanding and application of effective design standards for video, print, and digital media.

  • Flexibility to plan and work on multiple projects simultaneously and ability to turn around projects on short timelines.

  • A desire to be a collaborative team player who thrives on providing timely, high-quality support for the various ministries and activities.

  • Good listening skills and an ability to connect with people.

  • A desire to share God’s love with everyone, no exceptions.

Job Specifics:

  • Maintain a robust, story-driven, and innovative digital and social media presence by sharing stories of what God is doing in our city, church, and personal lives with a passion to draw people closer to Jesus.

  • Cover Sunday services and events and report on those through media channels.

  • Website: Work with staff and ministries to keep website content current.

  • Live-Stream: Maintain YouTube channel and work with our volunteer live-stream team: edit and upload videos, and respond to comments.

  • Social media: create content and monitor feeds on all St. Barnabas channels. Prepare and present analytics reports to stakeholders. Advise leadership on messaging and strategy.

  • Marketing: Work with Church Leadership to implement marketing strategies and execute external advertising campaigns including digital, print, outdoor, and direct mail.

  • Online Ministry: Develop podcasts or other channels to extend our online ministry.

  • Collaborate with and encourage other contributors to communicate about their ministries while staying consistent with our brand and communications strategy.

  • Write clear and accurate copy, create video reels and still images to shape social media content.

  •  Perform basic video editing.

  • Manage digital assets and brand identity.

  • Assist with other communications needs as they arise, including collaborating on our parish newsletter or offering support to other staff with communications needs.
