Church Nursery Child Care Provider

St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, in Montgomery, is a growing multicultural and multi-generational community that provides opportunities for worship, ministries, and fellowship activities for all persons. 

We are seeking an additional nursery childcare provider to care for our youngest members and visitors on Sunday mornings. 

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • At least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license.

  • Previous experience working with children ages 0-3 years old (minimum 1 year).

  • Complete a background check.

  • Current on Infant/Child CPR – training can be provided.

  • Fulfillment of online Safeguarding God’s Children Policies (St. Barnabas will provide).

Essential Duties & Job Description:

This position will care for children infants through age three during our Sunday worship service; about 1.5 - 2 hours each Sunday. Christmas Eve services, Easter services, and other church worship and congregational activities will be worked as negotiated. Childcare provider must be comfortable interacting with infants and toddlers and working with church volunteers and staff. The position is responsible for keeping the nursery space clean and organized.

  • Be prepared to work at least three Sunday mornings a month and during special events and church meetings as negotiated. 

  • Provide a safe, secure, friendly environment for children.

  • Introduce yourself to parents/guardians who visit the Nursery.

  • Engage in free play with the children during your shift or participate in other duties assigned to you.

  • Change diapers every hour and change children when needed.

  • Participate in the cleaning of the nursery and its supplies after a shift.

  • Abide by Safeguarding God’s Children Policies and the St. Barnabas Employee Policies. 

  • This position is hourly and has no benefits/vacation time.

General Qualifications

  • Be of good moral character including trustworthiness and dependability.

  • Be dependable by arriving for your shift on-time.

  • Be polite, friendly and courteous to all children, parents, and other staff.

  • Must be able to stand for more than an hour at times; also, crawl, stoop, kneel, walk, sit, crawl, reach up with hands and arms, and lift 25 pounds.

Compensation & Hours

Compensation: $18.00 – $20.00 per hour, commensurate with experience. 

Hours: Sunday morning availability from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

This position requires a background check and completion of The Episcopal Church’s ‘Safeguarding God’s People Workshop’ on child abuse prevention. St. Barnabas will help to set up training and pay any necessary fees.
