Discovering Dementia
Did you know by 2025, it is projected that 7.16 million people in the U.S. will be living with the challenging and emotional journey of Dementia?
This projection highlights the growing impact of dementia on individuals and families across the country. As the number of people living with this disease increases, so does the need for resources, support systems, and awareness.
This rise underscores the importance of creating supportive environments, like at St. Barnabas, and fostering understanding among our community. By educating ourselves and others, we can help ensure that those affected receive the compassion and care they deserve. It’s a community effort, and It’s important to remember that while dementia impacts cognitive functions, individuals may still respond to emotional connections and familiar environments. Support, compassion, and understanding are crucial throughout this journey.
Join us Sunday, November 17 following the 10am service as we welcome Shannon Braun, Director of the Episcopal Retirement Services for Memory Support & Inclusion. We will share lunch as Shannon leads us in the first of a series of forums dedicated to the impact of dementia on the person who is experiencing it and the loved ones who are touched by it in our families and our congregation.
By learning and working together, we can make St. Barnabas a place where everyone feels valued and cared for.
RSVP here so that we can set a place at the table for you.
