God’s Handiwork: Meet Mary Ellen Baude and Elizabeth Fallon
Two of our crafters of the month are a mother-daughter team: Mary Ellen Baude and her daughter Elizabeth Fallon, both accomplished knitters. Mary Ellen’s mother taught her to knit when she was nine years old. “I’ve been knitting ever since,” she said. Her favorite knitted piece is a jacket/sweater made with mohair and merino wool in an eggplant color. “I designed it myself,” she explained. “It’s warm and I wear it every winter.”
Elizabeth Fallon is an apple that didn’t fall very far from the tree. She contributes dozens of prayer shawls each year and is a master knitter just like her mom.
For it was you who formed my inward parts; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; that I know very well.
