Nature Emerging
Meet our next photographer in our Nature Emerging series, St. B member, Mark Musheno. Born in Lowell, MA and raised in Atlanta, GA, Mark and his family came to Cincinnati to join the GE Aerospace Family in 2016 and is now Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing of Marine Engines and Systems. Mark's life has taken him to many places in this wonderful world and his amazing life story fuels his desire to see the beauty in all of God's creation.
The short version of Mark's journey as described by him, "I definitely have a complex past, but like everyone else, we all have our stories, but to sum me up…..fell in love with my high school sweetheart, married just before graduating college, off we went to active duty.
I fought in several wars (did crazy things in combat serving in Air Force Special Operations Command including hostage rescues, terrorist extractions and close air support for special forces), had two kids , beat cancer, started all over again, had another kid, climbed the corporate ladder a couple of steps..." and now he is here to share his story and photography with us.
How does nature inspire you?
Nature is a distraction and a reminder of the beautiful things in life having seen and been apart of the other side. It’s infinite in its details.
When did you start photography?
"I started photography pretty young watching my father enjoy it but really got into it in high school (Erica and I were in the same art class together and would sneak out of class together to go downtown to take pictures) I had my father’s camera he let me borrow."
How do you choose your subjects?
"I try to always have a camera with me. Art and design have always been an interest along with part of my education background…so I would say I have over time developed an eye. The camera becomes an extension of you . I enjoy many aspects of photography....the framing, lighting and experimentation."
Mark also shared that his inspiration is his family and his wife, "God gave me the most beautiful gift in life...a true soul mate. I would not be here without her."
"You can chase the perfection aspect of photography.....perfection doesn’t exist…so it’s endless in the pursuit. Like the perfect golf game doesn’t exist but it’s fun to try and get better and better with each opportunity."
We are so grateful for your honesty and willingness to share your story with all of us. There is so much more to Mark's journey and we invite you to view his special Veterans Day talk where he reveals much more about his 12 years of continuous service in combat and deployment with the Air Force, how cancer changed him and his inspiration for living life to the fullest.
